The 2-Day train tour to Machu Picchu from Cusco is the most convenient option to visit the lost city of the Incas. We have crafted this tour to offer you more with no hassle. It is perfect for families and for those wanting to get the most out of their trip to Machu Picchu.

We will accommodate you in an ensuite hotel room in Aguas Calientes for one night. You will have enough time to visit the lesser-known yet informative museum or soak in the thermal baths in Aguas Calientes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

At 8:00 in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then, in our private transport, we will embark on a three-hour drive along the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo.Here, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes.

The train journey offers breathtaking views of the Urubamba river snaking through remote Andean villages and farmlands.

We will accommodate you in an ensuite hotel room in Aguas Calientes. You can spend the evening soaking in the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes or simply explore this small town.

Later at night, our representative will meet you at your hotel lobby to brief you on the following day’s itinerary.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will then take a bus from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu citadel. This will be a 25-minute drive up the hill.

Once at the main entrance of Machu Picchu, our guide will assist you in passing through the security control. Here, you will need to present your original passport and your entrance ticket.

We will then give you a two-hour guided tour of the citadel. On this tour, we will walk you through some of the main Incan ruins like the main plaza, ceremonial center, remains of temples, and farming terraces, among other sites.

After touring the archaeological sites, you will have some free time to explore the citadel. Alternatively, you can hike to the Sun Gate, which offers an exclusive view of the citadel. This view is exclusive during sunrise to those on the Inca Trail. It takes two hours to go back and forth from the citadel.

If you want to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, our local expert will assist you to the entrance. Please note that you will need to book the tickets to the respective mountains at the time of booking the tour, and it has an extra cost.

After visiting Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Then, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo train station. Our representative will meet you here and drive you back to Cusco.
