Tour Overview

Tour Overview

Our one day tour to the Colca Canyon will start quite early to get to the main viewpoint and in the morning to see the impressive flight of this ancient bird and we will also have the opportunity to see and visit populated centers in the area such as the case of Chivay and being able to interact with its inhabitants and take the opportunity to take some photos since many keep their typical costumes that are used in their daily activities.

Itinerary

We will begin by picking up passengers from their respective hotels at 3:00 in the morning. In case your hotel is far away, the meeting point is at the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. We will start our journey by passing through Yura, heading to our first stop, which is approximately a 4-hour drive away, in the town of Chivay, located at an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level. There, we will have breakfast, traditional drinks, and a rest as part of the acclimatization to the altitude.

Subsequently, we will head to our second stop, the Condor Cross Viewpoint, where we can admire one of the world’s deepest canyons. At this same location, you’ll find the Condor Sanctuary, with a high probability of witnessing the majestic flight of condors right above your head. There is also a possibility of seeing eagles. On our way back to the town of Chivay, we will visit the Antahuilque, Wayrapunko, and Maca viewpoints. Here, you can appreciate colonial churches, pre-Inca tombs, and terraces. We will pass through the town of Yanque, where you can access the hot springs (optional), with water temperatures ranging from 35°C to 38°C. You’ll have an average of one hour to enjoy the hot springs. We will then continue our journey to the town of Chivay, where we will have lunch before returning to the city of Arequipa.

During the return journey to Arequipa, we will make a stop at the Patapampa viewpoint, where you can admire the Ampato, Sabancaya, and Hulca Hulca volcanoes. We will also make a stop at the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, where you can spot vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas. From this point, we will head to the city of Arequipa, dropping you off near the Plaza de Armas. We estimate arriving at approximately 5:30 in the afternoon.
